I just wanted to show you this because I totally lost inspiration. It was supposed to be a steampunk themed self-portrait building a bomb, lol. Should I keep working on it?
It's about 11 hours of work already, reference used only for the hands. |

If you're looking for feedback, then I would suggest having a bit more contrast between the character and the background; maybe try the background a bit darker?
I would also add some more space about the head as it's a bit crammed right now.
Also, look at reference of similar poses for the wrinkles of the coat. There's nothing like looking at real reference to get cloth look more realistic :-D

Agree with Henning. This pic has lots of potentials and I really want to see how it turns out in the end. As he said you should study more refs. My idea is that since this is a character portrait, which means only that character rules the pic, you should put much hard work in details and suggest the expression/emotion of the character.
